I trained at the College of Traditional Acupuncture at Royal Leamington Spa and qualified as a licensed acupuncturist. I have been practising in Queniborough for eighteen years. I became a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) in 1998. All BAcC members have authorised training in the theory and clinical practice of acupuncture. They follow a strict code of practice and ethics and are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance. To demonstrate my commitment to high professional standards, I am on a voluntary register that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority, a scheme that was set up by the government to improve standards and safety for the benefit of the public. Previously I qualified as a SRN at Guy’s Hospital, London and as a midwife at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. After a break to have a family, I returned to nursing in Leicester. During my nursing career I met many patients who described how they had benefitted from acupuncture and my fascination in this amazing system of complementary medicine began. Traditional acupuncture allows me to care for my patients using the same attention to detail that I was taught during my original nurse training.
